FAQ
1.) Is this based off any specific idea?
It is whole heartedly an original thought and storyline brought to life by both admins! Of course there is influence from fantasy stories that have inspired us into creating this, but the types of characters, setting, and plot are all original.
2.) Why is there a character cap?
It is to present a major influx of character creation that will lead to neglected or abandoned characters. We would like to see members focus on a maximum of two at first, be active with them and develop them before they move onto creating one or two more. Right now we plan on keeping our cap at 4, and exceptions will be made as time moves on and we see fit.
3.) How are you going to go about story advancement?
TND is planned to be both character driven and plot driven. The Admins will brainstorm major plot drops and less major events for characters to be involved in. We also plan on doing a plot roulette to involve specific character in plots, and we want to include plot ideas brought to us by other members,. So be it big or small bring your ideas to us and we can implement them!
In the times between these drops, we expect members to advance their own stories with other players in the game. Build relationships, destroy them, create drama, angst, happiness- whatever it may be! We want to offer both a sandbox style here with plenty of freedom while also guiding everyone and intertwining them into the same creation!
4.) Are we required to create an OOC account?
While it does keep things organized, no. It is recommended you do, but if you'd rather just use your character account(s) only we are fine with that. We will be color coding accounts so that others can tell which are OOC and IC. And if you don't make one initially but decide to down the line that is fine as well! It isn't a requirement you do it first or never.
5.) You advertise as semi-literate to literate but why don't you have a minimum post requirement?
Here at TND our focus is quality over quantity. While we aren't looking for or excusing one and two liners, a well written paragraph is better than three with forced detail and repetitive information. We get it, all the muse to write more than five sentences isn't there. We just as you match your partner's post to the best of your ability and to not keep skimpy responses a consistent habit. A little trick I do is after I am done writing a response that is shorter I ask myself 'How can I respond to this?' That always helps me expand if I need to.
6.) If my character is a hybrid what do they look like?
Hybrids are a combination of two species, so you honestly get to pick whatever traits you'd prefer your character to have. But it'd have to be a fair mix because your character can't have every ability both species has. I.E. a Howler and Faye mix, can choose between elemental magic or shifting. You can allow your character to have stunted abilities, like a Howler's wolf form being smaller or a Faye's and Sorcerer's magic to be weaker, due to mixed blood but that is entirely your call. So long as your character doesn't exhibit any Gary/Mary Sue symptoms we don't care.
