a basic history,
In the beginning of the world Sorcerers reigned above all.
There are different stories from each species about how it came to be that way. Sorcerer's had the strongest magic, if you asked them, but Rorquals and Fayes might just say it was just hunger for power. There are humans that got a pass, able to bear Sorcerer children, and Howlers that were used to protect them, but every other species was a step beneath them all. But with oppression comes resistance at some point, and the Sorcerers... well, they were just too damned high on their pedestals to predict it.
Rorquals broke the ranks of the armies, Fayes fought with magic, and Wyvern's harnessed dragon-like abilities to break the kingdom and monarchy down. It took decades before everything settled in the war torn land, and gradually a peaceful agreement was settled upon. That was when all species worked together as equals to rebuild the land.
It's been over a few centuries and society has modernized. Cities sprung up, one of the largest being the city of Graycross. Everyone lives together and works together seamlessly, but to those within they understand the civility is simply a facade. There's tension between all the species, restrictions placed on some that others don't have, and stereotyping by class never makes it any easier. But still, Graycross thrives and every single person lives together even if their neighbor is someone they hate, whether they like it or not.
